I tried to pull myself free, but those talons were like a vise. I looked up to see a hawk the size of a bear. It lifted me up with the sweep of its wings & deposited me in its nest where I have written this letter. Find my mother & tell her I love her. The eggs are hatching! I f—
- ell into the nest, kissing the mud or whatever disgusting. 'Do you know why you are here?' I could not believe my ears, was the hawk speaking? More disturbingly, there was an eye watching me through the crack of the eggshell...

1 - "A talking bird A talking bird A talking bird...." It was the only thought in my head, while listening to that hawk. It continued without waiting for me to answer: "Those little hatchlings needs care while I'm out I heard that humans used to take care of birds before the war"1
11 - I tilted my head. "What war?" The hawk flew off before she could answer me. The hatchings all screeched, watching her fly off. When she came back, she fed them and told me that there was a war, started by the Wolf People because humans were ruining the forest. 'Since when?'1
- “Ever since the loggers came, but I would prefer to show rather than tell.” she stated. The hawk turned, spread her wings and waited for me to climb onto its back. Without hesitation I jumped up onto the hawk and wrapped my arms around its neck. The hawk took flight and we flew11
- across the forest until we reached the barren area where the wolf people were. I could see the loggers cutting down trees at the edge of the barren area, to expand it and cut into the forest. There were some loggers with cannons, pointing up at the sky. At us. We got shot down.1
