The Creature Beneath the Waves

24 July 2024

  • Decades on the sea had aged the old Captain far more than his actual years. Perhaps if he had taken a job on land it would’t be like this. Except the sea called to him, more importantly the creature beneath the waves would not let him leave.

  • This this… thing, it never showed itself, and its bowels were ever hungry. The captain could only imagine the ship graveyard that rested at the base of its stomach.

  • Suddenly the thing showed up. Giant and immense, it towered over the captain, its mouth gaping and the stench of a million sailors pouring from its gut. “This is for my old popper!” bellowed the Captain as he ran barefoot at the thing with a little sword.

  • He doubted the sword would do much damage, but it was better than doing nothing. The Captain plunged the sword into the monster’s flesh. Surprisingly, it screeched in pain, recoiling with such force that he was thrown overboard.

  • Thankfully, the ship had already run aground, so he wasn't gonna drown. It hurt when he hit the ground, but he didn't fall far, and it was *still* better than falling into water, since he couldn't swim. As the beast continued to shriek, he ran as fast as his legs would carry him.
