Once upon a time (which was actually 2 weeks ago) I had woken up to the sound of explosions, and I look out the windows to see someone robbing a bank!

“Everybody hands up! Get on the floor!” The scene would be so much different were it on the dancefloor. But this was no dancefloor. A masked man brandished his pistol. “Give me all your money! All of it!”

"I don't mean to be a troublemaker," said a woman in the back, "but how can we give you our money while we are laying down with our hands up?" Others slowly agreed, "Yeah! How can we do all 3 at once?" "This is bogus!" yelled a kid. "Totes bogus," agreed the woman. The robber did

curse out loud while pulling one of the captives up.
"Keep a lookout, men!" he yelled to his team of other robbers.
"Show me where the money is, do it quietly, and no funny business, or you won't be able to see how far my shotgun will make your head fly!" he threatened a captive.

The bank teller directed the robbers towards the safe. “Okay, now open it!” “I can’t, I don’t have the password! Only the guard knows the password!” “Don’t you play with me, boy! Open the safe!” Sirens blared across the hallway. Turns out someone pressed the button. “For Pete’s-”

Coffee you have some pretty serious security!”, the robber said. “Sir, this is a bank! And is that gun you’re waving a nerf toy?”, the teller asked. The robber’s eyes went wide, he cursed, and sprinted for the exit, only to find…

There was a large crowd of police outside the door, all wielding water guns. The robber was wearing his most expensive ski mask, so he surrendered immediately. At the holding cell, he was alowed to make one phone call, and the robber called...

his mother, sobbing with tears in his eyes, he exclaimed to her, “Mom you were right, I was not destined to be a robber, See Mom, I have been caught and am at the mercy of the policemen,”he lamented. He knew in his heart of hearts that his last attempt at robbery had been foiled.

The kid’s pursuer, still some ways off, slowed. Tilted an ear. A sound - to him, like a pig’s whimper when time for butchering come. Unmistakable. Lawman hadn’t savored sound like that since ages ago. Time to hunt; time to catch. Then, time enough to make a sinner learn to shriek

until it turns to breathless silence. Lawman’s toes curled in his boots at the mere thought. Pleasure stormed his veins. His mouth twisted up into a sinister grin as he savored the imagery for another fleeting moment. And then, just as quickly, he was off.

In the middle of the night came a whirring, buzzing noise. I got up and went to investigate the source. Opening the door I saw that the printer was active. A sheet of paper slowly rolled out of the printer’s mouth. Two large bold words were on the paper. “Sample Text”.

I looked around, suspiciously. Was someone messing with me? That would seem to be the situation. I wondered was the person having fun with my expense close by or not as I moved between my rooms, one by one, carefully. Why did I feel this paranoid about it? It may be just a prank.

I opened a door slowly and looked around it. Nothing. I made sure I was alone. I thought it must be my mind playing tricks on me. I'm just on edge, maybe I need more sleep. I sat down on the couch, and was suddenly met with an air horn blare and a cloud of streamers and glitter!

"Happy birthday!" cried my wife & friends. A ska band started playing from the back of the room. A cake rolled up, my name written on it with letter-shaped candles. "Happy 50th!" smiled my wife. Even my fish Flabulous was there, swimming in a drinking glass. How did they find me?

First I was perturbed wondering who on Earth gave them my location. But surrounded by my loved ones also overwhelmed me as I hugged and kissed my wife thanking her for the sweet surprise.

Of course her real motivation is her upcoming birthday, one that I will need to start planning for immediately. She set the bar high, but I will rise to the occasion!

A Surprise to Be Sure

“A key fob,” thought Leon. “That’s what I need, a key fob! Of course! How could I have not seen that? I need to write that down.” He reached over to the tablet of legal sized paper on top of the stack of unread books. But when he reached for his pencil,

he discovered that it was gone. Pens were there, but he wanted a pencil. Nothing compares to the sensual touch of graphite on paper. As Leon checked under his desk, he heard some giggling. "Amy," he called to his daughter, "what're you doing? Are you drawing on the wall again?"

Amy exclaimed with a sober touch in her voice, “Yes Pa, I am drawing on the wall!”
She started making curved lines with the pencil etching one fourth of the wall with graphite. Leon snatched the pencil from her scolding and directing her to play outdoors.

“Go touch grass!” “This sucks a—“ Leon shoved her out the door. Amy decided that since she can’t draw inside, she’ll draw outside instead! Good thing she has a spare pencil at all times. She got to work covering the walls with her doodles while her father was busy snoring inside.

The house was painted a nice satin white. Her drawings showed up well on its walls. She started on the porch, and by the the the streetlights came on she had drawn on the entire front of the house.

A crowd formed in front of the house, whispering excitedly about her skill and speed. Pizzas were ordered and wine bottles opened. Soon the work was finished and friends were made. The Big Draw, as it came to be known, became an annual event, creating a community like no other.

Jerry glanced down at the photograph in his hand, then back up again at the woman sitting alone at the back of the cafe.

The woman resembled the one in the photograph. His eyes glimmered with hope. At last he found her.

All at once a blinding light coursed through the space. Jerry and the woman froze. And then a creature appeared, seemingly from the air itself.

The creature seemed to be a magical spell from the sky who had come to ensure safety and bliss for Jerry and his new found love.
