Night Owls

Jerry glanced down at the photograph in his hand, then back up again at the woman sitting alone at the back of the cafe.

There were no doubts in his mind: she was the right person. He took a deep breath and approached her table. "Hello, may I steal a couple of your seconds?" Jerry asked. "There's something I'd like to ask you..."

All at once a blinding light coursed through the space. Jerry and the woman froze. And then a creature appeared, seemingly from the air itself.

"What are you doing here?" The creature asked. "We were just trying to go back home!" Jerry replied. "Well, if that's the case, off you go! And never come back" the creature shot another light beam at them, which transported them back into their respective houses.
