Night Owls

Jerry glanced down at the photograph in his hand, then back up again at the woman sitting alone at the back of the cafe.

His leg bounced nervously, and his gaze continued to switch between his phone and the woman, but there was now no doubt on his mind that she is the target.

All at once a blinding light coursed through the space. Jerry and the woman froze. And then a creature appeared, seemingly from the air itself.

After taking a second for their eyes to adjust, through squinted eyes, they looked up upon the odd smooth terrain of the creatures body.
