Night Owls

Jerry glanced down at the photograph in his hand, then back up again at the woman sitting alone at the back of the cafe.

The photo showed red hair, this woman was clearly brunette. But the eyes sparkled the same way. They were blue with specs of emerald green. It was at that moment Jerry realised he’d been caught staring.

All at once a blinding light coursed through the space. Jerry and the woman froze. And then a creature appeared, seemingly from the air itself.

The creature was purple, covered in tufts of fluff head to toe. Every colour of the rainbow. It reached out its hand towards Jerry and the woman, trembling.
