Johnny is a guy with a gun, he commonly uses that gun for stopping criminals, but sometimes he will use it for other things

Like scaring people and taking what he wants. Johnny thinks of himself as a crime fighter, but he’s a criminal too.

His crimes are never major. Stealing sugar packets from the cafe. Going for unpaid refills at the soda fountain. Sneaking grapes at the produce aisle. Come to think of it, all of Johnny's crimes involve food. There's a good reason for that...

It came from having too many siblings in a large family and not enough resources to share among them.

Johnny's brood had become unmanageable—a traveling carney clan—and had taken on a life of its own. Was it illegal or immoral? Such are the ambiguities of carney life. In the end, the transgressions were swept beyond the garish lights—no justice served, no culprit identified.
