Night Owls

Jerry glanced down at the photograph in his hand, then back up again at the woman sitting alone at the back of the cafe.

It wasn't possible. Despite the woman's long black hair and deep brown eyes, her dark caramel skin and high cheekbones, all perfectly matching the features of the face in the photo, it simply couldn't be her.

All at once a blinding light coursed through the space. Jerry and the woman froze. And then a creature appeared, seemingly from the air itself.

The fairy cocked a pale brown eyebrow and smirked. "It took you long enough."
