It was only ten o'clock in the morning and she already knew that her Wednesday was going to be far from normal.

For one thing, there was a giant blue-green disk sitting 100 meters above her city. She also somehow had no clean pairs of matching socks. She wondered if she’d make it to lunch without a meltdown.

As she stared at the disk in the sky, her mismatched socks tickling her toes, it began to slowly rotate. As the disk spun on its axis, a beautiful, unearthly melody began to shake the very ground she stood upon. As if the disk were a record, and the world a gigantic phonograph.
