Night Owls

Jerry glanced down at the photograph in his hand, then back up again at the woman sitting alone at the back of the cafe.

She was not the same anymore, but the photograph still showed the same distant look in her eyes. They felt hollow and absent.

All at once a blinding light coursed through the space. Jerry and the woman froze. And then a creature appeared, seemingly from the air itself.

The woman snapped out of her daydream and nearly fell of her chair as she turned to run away. It was too late, she was gone and Jerry knew the creature was here to consume him.
