She seemed tired and her gaze was always lost on the horizon, but she was alert. Her long dark hair fell to her narrow waist to rest in a small cage where she reclined. Inside was me.

She wore my cage on her belt anytime she left home, but even when she set the cage down, she never let me out. I am a Pixie, and Pixies are slaves, kept for the magic humans can steal from us. She need to only touch my cage, and my powers were hers to command.

The convenience of exploitation and subjugation had collectively robbed humanity of its memory. The sad truth is that humans are magical beings as well, each one possessing an aura just as potent (if not different) as that of any pixie. The entitlement of elitism took their magic

At specific moments, humans can still feel a hint of the magic that they once possessed. They call that feeling 'love', 'happiness', or even 'enlightenment'. But it's all the same. And people are all the same to me. I hated them and now, somehow, I was stuck with(in?) this human.

I felt myself trapped in a bag of emotions that I couldn't understand and when she saw the frustration in my eyes she seemed disappointed. All of the sudden this new feelings took over, 'hurt', 'shame' and 'sadness'. And I was surprised to find myself thinking I wanted to go back

to a simpler time, back to an easier life. I sighed and turned the dial on the time circuit to July 4, 1976. “I’m going back to that beautiful bicentennial parade, will you join me?”, I asked her.

"Kid," she said, "you've got yourself a date." Years whirled past us as her her hand slipped into mine. My heart danced. As time slowed, the parade was in full swing. "All hail Ilu-shuma, King of Assyria!" the crowds chanted. I looked at the chronometer. It was dialed to 1976 BC.

"NO!" I screamed, my fingernails digging deep into my clenched fists. "GET AWAY! GET AWAY FROM HIM!"
The man stepped back, startled. "He doesn't belong here, kid."
"HE BELONGS WITH ME!" 
With that, I stormed out of the room, Oreo tagging close behind me.

Unfortunately, it was raining outside. I shivered, regretting that I’d left without a jacket. Thankfully there was an empty bus stop a few feet away. I sat on the bench, Oreo putting his head in my lap. As I reached down to pet him, I noticed he had a key in his mouth.

The key was gold and shiny, though it was useless if I didn't know where it led. Suddenly, Oreo slipped off my lap and started running circles around the sheltered ground of the bus stop - he was bringing my attention to an abandoned umbrella. When I picked it up, Oreo ran off.

I chased after him, irritated but also curious. When I finally caught up to Oreo he was pawing at the cellar door of a dilapidated old house. The shiny padlock on the door matched the shiny key. I unlocked it and started down, brandishing the umbrella in front of me like a sword.

Past the creaky staircase there was a door hanging on rusty hinges. It squealed as I pushed it open. I found myself in the Rumpus Room that Time Forgot. Then I saw it: the Golden Atari, with the Yars Revenge cartridge already in place. Sweeet!

Jack dusts himself off just as his sister slams down into him. "That didn't work out the way I thought it would," Jill says, "What if this time you distract while I get the water?" "We've tried that and many others like it. If we're going to do this, we need an elaborate plan!"

Jill sighs and sits down on the grass while Jack paces, muttering to himself. "We want water from the well," he says, "but there's a monster guarding it, that we can't distract." The two glance at the hill, watching the monster lumber around. "Stupid monster," Jill mutters.

“We’ll have to kill it,” Jack decided.
Jill scoffed, “and how exactly do you propose we do that? We don’t have any weapons, and look at it, it’s massive!”

"Listen, Jill." Jack sighed. "You've got a LOT of strength. And I've got my wits. We can do this." "You really think I'm that strong, Jack?" "I know you're that strong, Jill."
Jill smiled at Jack, and held up her fist. "We can do this. Let's go get that water."

They turned towards the hill, but saw a lady and a little sheep up there. She tried to control it, but it went over the well, letting off a stream of its personally brewed tea. “Yeah, we won’t be having any water.” Mary had a little lamb, its fleece was white as snow.

Jerry glanced down at the photograph in his hand, then back up again at the woman sitting alone at the back of the cafe.

She had been sitting there, staring at him since he’d come in. Who was she, he wondered, and why was she staring at him like that?

All at once a blinding light coursed through the space. Jerry and the woman froze. And then a creature appeared, seemingly from the air itself.

Jerry blinked furiously, trying to clear his vision. As they would around him came back into focus he couldn’t believe his eyes. A tiny humanoid, seemingly made of fire, stood mere feet away from him and it was looking straight at him.
